Transmission Jeep Grand Cherokee
I have owned a 2000, a 2002 and now a 2004 Grand Jeep Cherokee. I
would have bought an '05 or '06 but held off because I didn't like the transmission that they have been using since '04. As I understand it, you go into 4 wheel drive automatically. I've been told that you can do it manually, but I wasn't able to see how in the couple I've tried. Is this true, and if so, how do you do it? Secondly, I thought I saw a transmission in the new Jeeps - either advertised or in person - whereby you could slip into 4 wheel drive LOW manually. Is this true? I like the old transmisson like the one in my '04 where you can manually put it in 4 wheel Drive part time, 4 wheel all the time and 4 wheel Drive LOW. That LOW gear gives me the confidence of being able to climb out of almost anything and I don't see that same capability in the Jeeps since '04. Since I can't seem to find what I want in the Jeep anymore, is anyone using a similar transmission in another make? |
