And Volvo goes to....
Step right up. Who's gonna give me US$8billion for Volvo???
Will it be: Door Number 1 --------- Renault Door Number 2 --------- BMW Door Number 3 --------- Hyundai Door Number 4 --------- unknown Chinese company (why?) The above are from European speculators; how's about..... Door Number 5 --------- Volvo Any takers? john |

And Volvo goes to....
I'm surprised that Ford doesn't keep Volvo and instead try to sell Lincoln,
Mercury, and Ford of North America. It could keep Ford of Europe and Australia. Hell, it wouldn't even need to negotiate with the UAW but could just walk away after it had transferred all its assets into Volvo. I think door #5 is most likely but also wouldn't be surprised to see door #1. Why would Hyundai want it when they're going to market their upscale Genesis model this fall? And BMW has been bitten before, both by Rover and Land Rover so why acquire something that competes directly with some of your own models unless it's to close down the competition. And Volvo goes to....
Ya know...as the old guys say...they've cashed in their stock (oh my no, not
us), they've mortgaged every piece of real estate, they don't even manage some of their plants PSA does, they spun off their captive suppliers, etc. Max is right. All they have left are hollow nameplates. And why would anyone want Volvo if they have to buy one third (at least) of the parts of a Volvo from Ford - which might not exist? I'm still trying to figure the stock deal out. Most guesses (are just that): GoldmanSachs. The thread is gone here, but GM did go with VM (Penske, oh Captain; oh, Captain) for diesels. It still would have been better off with Peugeot's newer technology. john "rob" > wrote in message ... > that's ok ford is denying that they are even shopping it > > kinda like saying....."no way, me and the rest of the Ford family didn't > sell our stock!" > > > "MagisterMax" > wrote in message > news:fKZmi.50905$xk5.21020@edtnps82... >> I'm surprised that Ford doesn't keep Volvo and instead try to sell >> Lincoln, Mercury, and Ford of North America.
