Obviously, he can't do it by himself. I can see you have joined the elite club... > Pez: try "engine break-in fuel economy" Break-in?? You must be kidding me... We were talking about 10k and 50k comparison, not the first thousand miles break-in. Sorry, but I was still unable to find a document comparing mpg of 10k and 50k cars. Can you be so kind (and wise) and give me the link you've refered to? I am not as good with google as you, and I was only able to find this page: http://autorepair.about.com/cs/gener...a022501a_2.htm To quote: "New Engines: New vehicles have not yet had an opportunity for the engine to break in (rings to seat, etc.). A typical engine will take three to five thousand miles to break in, and during this time period a gradual increase in fuel economy can be expected." I cannot see there anything about 50k miles car being better on mileage than a 10k car... Same he http://www.autotrader.com/research/a...rdpage=ARTPOS1 "Engine Break-in New vehicles will not obtain their optimal fuel economy until the engine has broken in. This may take 3-5 thousand miles." Nothing anywhere about the effects of engine break-in after the first 10k miles and between 10k-50k period. Show me how you, my Master, use the google, please! |

Hyundai at 10 years/100k miles on the powertrain. The first "long warranty" company. I was wondering where Hyundai was until you went to the heart of the matter. |

The >powertrain warranty is more for all of them, including GM's 5 year >100K, and Chrysler's Lifetime (for the original owner). Honda and >Toyota ar 5/60... Not only that, but if honda and toyota only offered a 200 mile warranty, it still wouldn't have a bearing on the fact that their cars routinely run flawlessly for 130,000 miles and their engines make often make it to 300,000 miles with only scheduled maintenance. The #1 factor that prevents the average lifespan from being 200,000 miles are car crashes and owner neglect -- the owner failing to provide the recomended maintenance. |

And of course, nobody has ever seen a hyundai as having a warranty over 40,000 miles is so amazingly rare. I looked drove around for a bit and it was a whole 2 ****ing minutes till I was one of those rare wonders. I bet nobody else has ever seen so many of them! Anybody ever seen a mercedes? Those are rare. Anybody ever seen a volvo? There also rare. I bet there aren't 40 of them in the U.S. I once saw a SAAB. I didn't know what an incredible feat that was. Should I have called channel 4 news to call in the news reporters for this rare observance? |
