Yea, your bump deployed the seat belt tensioner. That means the SRS control unit, the front impact sensors and the seat belt MUST be replaced. -- Tp, -------- __o ----- -\<. -------- __o --- ( )/ ( ) ---- -\<. -------------------- ( )/ ( ) ----------------------------------------- No Lawsuit Ever Fixed A Moron... |

Isn't that great news?
Kind of a stupid system... if the airbags don't pop... the system should not semi-deploy! "TomP" > wrote in message ... > > > kathy2004 wrote: > >> I was in a bery minor fender bump. Why deploy $4000 worth of airbags when a simple explosive tensioner is sufficient? The explosive seat belt system on newer cars even relaxes after deployment, to allow a decelleration of the upper torso, rather than an abrupt stop that used to break a lot of collarbones. In my 2005, not all of the airbags will deploy when one deploys, and they can deploy with differring rates. The 2003 is dual stage, dual threshold, but both fronts deploy at the same time. The side air bags are independent of the front. The owners' guide explains all of this, including the note that the SRS light indicates a fault in any portion of the system. --- Clarence A Dold - Hidden Valley (Lake County) CA USA 38.8,-122.5 |
