Flatout and NFSU2 Demo not working
I decided to try these two this weekend and no luck.
Installed fined but when I start them, nothing happens on NFSU2 and Flatout uses 98% of CPU time forever... I have XP Pro SP1 with DX9.0C, 6800GT 61.77 drivers on P4 3.0Ghz. All my racing games works fine (GPL, RBR, N2003, F1C, RT, NFSU, TOCA2) and also games like Mafia, FarCry, UT2004, ... The only things that seems to be common on these two titles is DX9.0C but DxDiag tell me it is. I tried with & without FSAA and with and without Hardware Sound Accel in DXDiag. Anything I missed ? Thanks. |

The Hard disk light flashes for a few seconds, that's all. Nothing is
displayed on screen. The application doesn't appear in the task list. My 98% CPU usage for Flatout was following a test. It does exactly like NFSU2 now. Few HD lights blinks and that's all! I re-installed ab n older demos (Xpand Rally) and it works perfectly... FWIW -- I had exactly the same experience with the Flat Out demo (Didn't try
NFSU2). Rather than screw around with it, I just immediately uninstalled it. I figure that if I have to work that hard to get a demo to run, it ain't worth it. BTW -- Other than controller issues in some sims, I've never had these types of problems come up with any other demo. They would all at least run........ Anyway, make sure when you run the installer, to let it finish . There seems to be a delay at the end when it seems to have stopped but hasn't. It could be that, or your download was corrupt in the first place. |

I had SP1, I installed SP2 and everthing is working now.
Might be that DirectX 9.0C was installed incorrectly the first time.
