195x Echidna Devin-Corvette ASR car.jpg
Notes from the OP:
Echidna Devin-Corvette ASR car This is vintage racing before it was Vintage Racing. There were three Echidna cars made in the 50s. Each was a Corvette-powered special with a Devin body. One of them belonged to Jerry Hansen. I don't know that this was the same one. Steve Kline, whose family was in the new-car business, obtained one of the Echidnas and prepared it for racing using the wide slicks of the 70s instead of the skinny treaded rubber that the cars originally wore to the track. Since there was no "vintage racing" in those days, Steve ran straight-up with the Lolas and McLarens in A Sports/Racing. At the time, the article in The Tonneau about the car began with the statement, "The engine, gentlemen, is in front, where God intended." Steve made the scene at some autocrosses, too. I'd love to see the like again. -- When you come to a fork in the road, take it. -- Yogi Berra |
