41% of crashes occur on Corners
In my area is a "deadly stretch of road". To try and reduce the road
toll, they put up signs with various interesting messages. Today, one of those signs said "41% of crashes occur on Corners". But I don't see how that is supposed to help. |

They used the word "crash" instead of that silly euphemism
"accident"??? First time i've seen that. Someone can be driving 120 mph and when they hit a bus, everybody says it was an accident!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

In a vehicle crash?! Sure, all your lawyer needs to cite is the old "I didn't mean to" defense. Prosecutors just go "tits up" for that one... ----- - gpsman |

41% of crashes occur on Corners
OK, I want to go to the store across the street.
The safety boffins say I should cross at the corner. At the corner, the drivers have to look in three directions, and a few might even have checked the mirror. The crosser (me) has to look in several directions, too, Had I crossed in the middle of the block, I would have had to look in two directions. The driver, basically, in one direction. But it's safer to cross at the corner. It must be. "They" say so and you know that "they" are never wrong. At a presentation, I presented a case in which the car being passed, driving at a speed below the posted limit, was the real speeder, but the passer, driving above the posted limit, was not really speeding. The police in the audience were smiling and nodding their heads in agreement. RTP (Retired Safety Professional) |
