Just another complaint
Wife driving, we were doing about 5 over, in the right lane.
An idiot passes, on the left, looks over his shoulder, at us and proceeds to cut us off. Nobody ahead, of him for a eighth mile. OK; one time but this has happened before, perhaps to you too. What gives? |

Saw this yesterday, traveling in medium heavy traffic, guy in right lane decides he wants to turn left (no turn pocket) - changes lanes right in front of another vehicle and immediately brakes hard and puts on left turn signal. Ought to be legal to shoot other vehicles with a paintball gun so other drivers have a warning of who the idiots are and be extra careful around them. nate -- replace "roosters" with "cox" to reply. http://members.cox.net/njnagel |

I've had them cut me off so close you could stand on both bumpers with feet side by side. Picture this: I'm driving a ryder rental truck with tow dolley. On I-40 just about to enter Knoxville on their nice big 3-lane. Approaching sloth in right lane. Check my mirror, see no one near me for over a mile. Put blinker on. Enter center lane. Pass the sloth. Check mirror, put blinker on, enter right lane. What the hell? I'm being passed on the right shoulder by some dumb jackass no less! Now what the hell was wrong with the left lane? He had no cars in that lane for two miles, yet he chose to pull this stunt. Still have never figured that one out. -- I learned my lesson well. Going down I-66 in NoVA after driving straight through from Pittsburgh. Ended up coming off the Beltway during rush hour so I was on the shoulder (it's a travel lane during rush hour) here this knucklehead in a pickup truck is sitting on one of the turnouts and just as I'm coming up on him he starts to pull out. I lay on the brakes and horn at the same time and he stopped about 6" away from me turning his pickup into a pile of scrap metal (there was no way I could change lanes, as I said, this was rush hour.) Dunno if he was blind, distracted, or what, but that could easily have been VERY ugly. I guess that was my official "welcome to northern Virginia" - that was the first time I moved here, and I hadn't been in the state more than 10 minutes at that point. (and I was only 10 minutes from my destination, too, after having been on the road for probably about 5 hours...) nate -- replace "roosters" with "cox" to reply. http://members.cox.net/njnagel |

Clearly, it was an MFFY driver who just had to "teach you a lesson" by cutting you off because you "made them pass". Once they completed their pass, it was obviously their sworn duty to force you to slow down in retaliation. I've seen this happen in the left lane too. Reasonable speed passer gets passed on the right by the MFFY passer/speeder, then the MFFY passer/speeder completes their pass, merges left, and then the brake lights are seen blinking a few times as they slow down to teach the reasonable speed passer a lesson because, once again, they made them pass. |

Period, end of story. I am sure that someone can come up with a situation in which that is not the case, but it is so rare that it can be safely ignored. Please learn to drive more considerately for your fellow road users in the future. nate -- replace "roosters" with "cox" to reply. http://members.cox.net/njnagel |

Yep he slowed down. then he took off at about 20 over. traffic was really light. |

Did you recently allow a LLB to pace you for several minutes not too long before this occurred? 2. Were you driving significantly slower than the rest of traffic by just going only 5 mph over? If the speed limit is 55 mph and traffic is going between 68 and 78 mph, then going 60 mph is too slow and disrupts traffic unnecessarily. |

(did he signal? probably not..) The "looked over his shoulder" was an indication he was going to move. Maybe he was "yanking your chain",not that I condone such actions. BTW,was there another car approaching HIM(in his lane),and maybe that's why he moved over too soon,to get out of the other guy's way? It's still bad judgement on his part. I once "played hopscotch" with such an idiot, until he cut me off,and then I ran him literally off the road, then he left me alone after that. "hopscotch"; where you pass someone, they speed up,pass you,and slow down again, then when you pass, they do the same thing all over again, and it repeats. -- Jim Yanik jyanik at localnet dot com |
