g.com... What's wrong with this picture? Well, let's start with the engine. Ford stopped installing flatheads in their US cars at the end of the 1953 model year. It should be an OHV V-8, Ford called it their "Y Block". -- Pat Durkin |

LOL I didn't mean the question literally but now that you mention it - yeah - it IS pretty big isn't it? I hadn't even noticed it. ) But my point was THE ENGINE IS WRONG FOR A '54. -- Pat Durkin |

Tsk, tsk, gentlemen, you need to expand your horizons beyond the limiting
borders of the United States. There are also cars in the rest of the world, including your northern neighbour, Canada. :-)) But these similar-looking vehicles are not always identical to the American models. While the American Fords received their new ohv V8 in 1954, elsewhere in the world production soldiered on for at least another year with the older flathead V8. So, while on the outside and inside the Canadian Fords looked identical to their American counterparts, they were fitted with the old V8. The same was true of the 1954 Meteor, by the way. Canadian Mercury and Monarch cars did receive their new ohv V8 in 1954. Mad Max just steals pictures, but isn't nearly bright enough to check them for validity before flooding them. -- HP, aka Jerry "Don't say 'can't' when you really mean 'won't'" |

I was dimly aware of the Canadian variant but discounted that possibility because of that front license plate - California 4DUU526. -- Pat Durkin |
