2002 Saturn L300 Warning Light
My warning light (the one with the wrench) comes on after about two hours
of driving at Interstate speeds (75-80 mph) when I stop to pay a toll. The automatic shifting is then rough when I resume. When I park for a short time the light stays off and shifting seems normal. Anyone else experiencing this? 62000 miles |

Have the OBDII code read from the engine computer. Autozone will do this
for free or you can purchase a code reader for under $100. Once you have the code, you can search the newsgroups for a solution. "The automatic shifting is then rough" sounds like the engine computer is sensing a problem and putting the car into "limp home mode". We have the same problem. Our fix:
Turn on headlights; sharply stab brake pedal twice; turn off lights. The wrench light is gone! I don't understand it, but it works! Very interesting. How did you arrive at that fix? Dealer suggestion or trial
and error. Experimenting with stuff is sometimes fun (then again, I'm an engineer) but just hope there isn't a sequence that triggers the airbags or the ejection seat.
