Default 1992 Honda Accord - ABS Light Error Code

HI

I have a 1992 Honda Accord. The ABS light has started to come on. If
I start the car, and dont drive it does not come on but after about 30
seconds of driving it comes on and stays on.

I followed the instructions in another post and used a paper clip to
short the connector by the passenger foot plate.

when I turned on the switch, all the dash lights including the ABS one
came on. Then the ABS light flashed 3 times.

Does anyone know what that code means??

Secondly, worse case scenario, if that code suggests the pump is gone,
(which I would not replace because of the $$$), is there a fuse or
breaker that I can remove to make the warning light go out?

Thanks for your help

How long did you watch the light flash? It ought to flash a pattern
continuously.

If the pattern is indeed three flashes, then a repeat, it's Code 1. A host
of problems are identified by this code. See he
http://www.tegger.com/hondafaq/misc/..._abs_codes.pdf
The specific pages for Code 1 are included in the PDF. If your code is
other than 1, I can post those too.

Yes, it's from a '93 Accord, but they ought to be the same as the '92.

A temporary workaround:

Curly

The I feel the same way the source of the problem. Like you I think
that if the code is not triggered until after I start driving, then it
has to be something to do with with moving ie the wheel sensor.

However the code is 1/2 which indicates its the pump.

Let me know your thoughts.

TeGGer

I reexamined the flashes and it is in fact a 1 - 2 sequence. I guess
that is bad news.

Is there any chance flushing the ABS system would help?

Is there any more convenient way to permanently disable that ABS light
if I end up not being able to solve the problem??

You're best to ask Comboverfish in rec.autos.tech, in that other thread you
started without correctly cross-posting to this one. Good thing I found
that other thread. I felt foolish posting a reply without knowing you had
someone else working on it too.

The manual says it could be the motor relay, unit fuse, or motor fuse. Have
you checked the fuses? Relays and fuses are not particularly expensive or
difficult to replace.

I guess I will expose my ignorance even more but I apologize for making
you feel foolish. I somehow thought it was two unrelated different
locations. I tried to post in the two locations to be able to get as
much feed back as possible.

Is it poor etiquete to make multiple post of the same issue? Secondly
how do I cross post??\

Thanks

Thanks for the edification. I post using google.com groups not via a
soft ware. I dont see any cross post option. Is it too late to cross
post this one??

A couple other questions. I read the pdf file you referenced and i am
doing the tests it suggests. However, I dont know where

1)the fail safe relay is located

2) the abs pump motor connector?

Can you describe to me or if you have one send me a link or pic on
where I would find these two items. The article does not say and my
Haynes manual is likewise silent.

Thanks
