Oh they know. The question is does the person buying the car opt for
easy to clean rims. They make what sells a car. Buy a wheel cleaner
specific to your wheel alloy and finsih. I've seen far worse rim designs
for cleaning than any found on a Saturn.

Hmm, and I thought that those looked quite easy to clean, much easier than
my 1994 SL2 alloys. Try using Maguires wheel cleaner or Simple Green,
problem solved and you can get back to enjoying your new ION. :-)

Have the alloy rims on my LW300 too. The fronts get particularly dirty and
are a pain to clean by hand. I have a 1500 psi power washer that does a nice
job though. I use the turbo nozzle first that takes most of the surface dirt
off. On occasion I use a fine scotch brite pad with some GoJo hand cleaner
(or any solvent you prefer) and lightly scrub (in small circles) to remove
the tar deposits. Comes out nicely. I bought the pressure washer at Sam's
club for $150 and it has paid for itself many times over.
http://www.faippowerwasher.com/ which is the same company that makes the
ones Home Depot sells under the 'husky' brand.

Saturn rims are EASY to clean.

If you think other stuff's easy, feel free to come over and do the front
wheel on my Harley. If that's still too easy, try a spoked rear on one
- they're darn near impossible to keep clean.

The saturn stuff you wipe with the washcloth and it's mostly clean. My
bike? Dirt goes in everywhere and doesn't like coming out :/
