After visiting my friend doing the free trial again, I did notice that
the drivers are quite courteous, at least with the rookie Soltice
events, so the SR factor seems to be helping. I think it would help more
if its formula was actually explained. For NR2003, laps per incident
is easy to figure out, except that it was a running average based on
the last "?" number of races. If "?" was 20 races, and you had a
really bad race, then it would take 20 races to wipe away that
bad race. I don't recall the actual number anymore.

Another thing that seems to help with the rookie Soltice is that unless
there's a huge difference in skills, the closing rate between cars is
fairly small. So although the Rookie Soltice is boring, it probably
cuts down on the incidents, and after messing with it, I can see
where the relatively long time spent in corners can help teach
control inputs.

An alternative to this could be a circular or figure 8 skid pad,
which are also used in driving schools. Perhaps implementing a
driving school feature, similar to LFS, would be a nice addition
down the road.

Next time we'll try Ian Lakes setup for the SRF to see if it can
be tamed to be driving by mere mortals.

It helped quite a bit. No clue as to what Ian fixed, but tested at
Lime Rock (no chicane) with Ian's setup and managed to achieve the
rookie standard of a sub 1:02 lap time.

Not to worry, I don't have the budget, plus I get just as much fun
playing need for speed games, arcade versus realistic, both
have their appeal, and I'm not that picky about either.

That's because the Soltice doesn't have enough quick acceleration to
pass anyone anyway.

Yeah, but you can still **** the braking up. Low powered motor sport has its
fair share of incidents.

No, and never was in a strop. Just keeping our internet dialogue on track is
all.

In a strop, as I thought.
