Default 1A fault code

Hi, i have a problem with my 1994 325is i came from a long drive from MI,
and while i was driving in the rain on the highway the car shut off for
like 2 seconds and it was fine after that. I got home with no problem i
park the car and next day i try to start it and it took a really long time
to start i think i must have cranked it for like 5-10 times until it
started i let it run for a while and drove it 10 miles and i came back
home, next day the car cranked but wouldn't start. i checked the fuel pump
it was working with the tester but not when i turned the ignition on.
I checked everything from fuses to relays i had a relay the was stuck on
open and that was the power relay that comes from ECU/DME. Anyways i
replaced that and i checked the fault codes with the PEAKE R5/FCX(II) tool
and it came up as 1A code which it says that is the CONTROL UNIT SUPPLY
which im not sure what that is i think it means the ECU/DME. Anyway i
purchased a used DME ECU from a working BMW same as mine and it still
wouldn't start and i scaned it again and it came up with the same 1A fault
code. Can anyone help me on this one if you have any ideas or suggestions
what might be the proablem?

The way I understand it is that fault codes are retained in the memory
unless cleared. So maybe the 1A you got was caused by you removing and
replacing the relay. It wasn't cleared from the memory yet.

I also heard or read somewhere that the DME needed to be "aligned" with
EWS when replaced.

I had a starting issue with my '95 325i and mine wouldn't even crank.
Problem is the EWS II. EWS cut's off the power going to the starter.

Here's a doc mentioning about EWS and alignment needed with DME (page
15).

Re-reading the document, The alignment of ISN is applicable only to
those manufactured from Jan 1995. So your DME should be OK.

Read the DOC as it tells a lot about the EWS (your version) and might
give you some clue.
