Default "Flat Rate" for Saturn Waggon (SW1) Transmission (hours to remove and replace)

Greetings,

Does anyone know the flat rate (number of hours to complete the job,
by the book) to remove and replace the transmission for a '98 Saturn
Waggon (SW1)?

Many thanks,

-Ashley

What Is your plan for this repair? Were you going to take it to GM, a
transmission chain, independent shop or do it yourself? Any professional
shop has access to a flat rate subscription. Get a quote broken down by
parts and labor. Take the labor value and divide by shop's hourly rate and
you get hours.
Flat rate hours assume correct tools are available.

All flat rates are not equal. The GM warranty rate is what GM will pay for
warranty work done by a dealer, it assumes correct equipment and no rusted
or seized bolts. Repair flat rates are much more favourable to the
mechanic/shop and not the customer. Few dealers would have given the non
warranty customer the GM flat rate. Most good mechanics will beat the non
warranty flat rate. I suspect that manual or auto transmission times will
also vary as will other factors.

Most will also want to use this as a good time to do other work such as
clutch & release bearing inspection/replacement, and/or axle seals as well
as any soon to be needed suspension or brake work.

Good luck, YMMV
