What I find interesting is that these cars with 500+ net horsepower
are barely cracking the 12's whereas factory drag cars sporting Hemis
and 427 Ford engines in the late 1960's could drop into the high 10's
with minimal effort. Could it be that these muscle cars are just TOO
FAT?? Only the Vette is semi-svelt.

How 'bout near 11s, on factory tires.

Re-check the poundage numbers for late-60/early 70's cars.

Factory drag cars of any era aren't like stock street cars.

Your best modern comparision is this:

Even maxed out per hp rules of the NHRA, it can do under 9 sec in the
1/4.
