Marvel Mystery Oil
Nobody will ever know exactly what it is, almost every side of the Internet has at least 1 query trying to figure out how to "bacwards engineer" the stuff......but in simplest terms it's a very light weight (turtlewax refers to it as a "zero weight") oil, with mild solvents - it works by mixing with the motor oil, once the engine gets hot, the solvents go to work to "re-liquify" carbon, varnish, etc. within reach (i.e.: where there is no actual "oil flow" - it will not clean.....other tahn the possible "vapors" that land in the area), it then "suspends" the carbon, varnish, and "sludge" if present within the motor oil, to be drained at the next scheduled OCI, which, MMO themselves recommend at 3000 miles. They have not personally tested the product go do "extended" oil drain intervals...but to get the best effect, you want to add it at the start of your Oil change, with FRESH oil, so there's plenty of clean oil to act as a "carrier agent" to hold the sludge and carbon in suspension to then be deposited in the old filter, etc and then to be drained at the next schedule oil service.
When used in the fuel, the MMO acts as an upper cylinder lubricant, similar to that of Lucas Fuel Injector Cleaner, but with a light solvent to it, to revitalize the fuel, clean the intake, and the fuel injectors. Basically, the idea is with the mixture of 4 oz. per 10 gallons, when you shut your car off, a little bit of fuel is bound to be at the top of the injector, with the MMO there, it'll also act as a lubricant for your next start-up. I've also heard of MMO being used in the power steering reservoir, as well as the transmission...but not more than 16 oz in each. So, in a "pinch" you can use it as a top off for your ATF and/or power steering, with the added benefit of the detergency. |

It has wintergreen added for odor and red coloring added. |

It works great to shine up the fake vinyl "wood" Ford used to put on the
sides of Country Squire Station Wagons. Ed "adamh" > wrote in message ...
