Annoying, how? You can't even see your own lights.

Wow, how much more ignorance can you possibly display?

You've *finally* figured out driving beaters is a bad idea.

So you should be driving 80 year old beaters, as they don't have
emergency brakes, so that's one less thing to go wrong with your ride.

Nor can you see the odometer, the trip computer/compass, the radio display,
etc. when they din in intensity when this happens. That's pretty damn
annoying. I agree 200% with 223rem on this one.

Washing turns on the wipers without turning on the lights.

Then you're real complaint is with a badly designed instrument panel
lighting system...

They don't. Apparently there are some engineers at Chrysler who design for
the Real World (tm).

....so your solution is a logic circuit that not only discerns short from
long wiper activation, detects and disregards wiper activation in
combination with screenwashers, and maybe decides what kind of music you
really want to listen to at any given moment, even if you don't know it.

Sorry, I don't agree that endless cascades of increased automation and
complexity are a solution to anything, especially when they necessarily
entail removal of car control from the driver.

Alan, I notice you're in BC. Are you, by chance, a transplanted American?
Your "Me first, **** the rest of the world, I'm the only one whose
annoyance counts" attitude is most unCanadian.

It already is "cast into legalese" (which seems to be your hyped way of
saying "codified"), and has been since your great-grandpappy was driving
his Model-T...long before automatic headlamps.
