there is a marking on the engine block for where
the crank pulley needs to be, and the camshaft
should have a marking on it that should be at 90
degrees to the top of the engine.

Get yourself some nail polish in a bright color. Before removing the
old belt, mark the belt, and a crankshaft and cam sprocket tooth with
the nail polish. Lay the old belt on the new one and transfer the
marks, then line the new belt's marks up with those on the sprockets.

If you don't have a female to cadge nail polish from and don't feel
comfortable buying it yourself, you can always use Wite-Out, available at
any office supply store.
