Default speedo

Probably been covered before but I thought I'd tell you that using a
bicycle speedo works great.
Put one on my baja that had none.
epoxy small (included) magnet to top of front drum and pick-up on an
"L" bracket to backing plate.
Had to splice in longer wire, no biggy, and mount gauge to dash.
input tire diameter into settings (following directions) and then
drive it.
nice, schwinn model about $10

LOL !

Thanks for posting that. Have had my head in the sand a few years
and I had no idea such devices were on the market, and at bargain
prices!

I always wanted a digital speedo for my Beetle, so in the late 70's
I designed and built one using TTL logic chips (7400), if anyone
remembers those dinosaurs.

The input was a reed switch tripped by 4 magnets on the speedo cable.
The circuitry fit inside a box maybe half the size of a laptop computer!
The thing still works and is installed in my Bus.

Might have to buy the bicycle one just to play with...
