Finally..
Hi..
Once again I have become a true alfist. I have been without an Alfa for way to long, but not anymore.. I just purchased a 1977, series 1, Alfasud ti, almost a 100% original and in a spectacular great condition, the seats aren't even worn. I had a professional "rustfixer", can't remember the english title for someone that welds metal and beat panels, go over the car and he was blown away, he simply didn't believe the shape the car was in. Several times he was mumbling "well I'll be damned" while under the car, I took it as a good sign.. :-) The only rust was a bit under the rear window, and something the size of a coin where the floor in the boot meets the wheel arch.. The previous owner bought the car five years ago, and had started, but not finished, a conversion to outboard Alfa 33 brakes. However, he couldn't find the time for it, so I got it at an incredible bargain price, close to stealing the thing. My task will be to refit the proper brakes (the original inboard design), replacing the exhaust (which is a gone'r) and maybe changing the wheel bearings because it has been standing still for a long time. I hope to Mot it before winter sets in, and then find a warm place for it to hibernate, making it all ready to roll in the spring.. Man, it has been almost two years since I've scrapped my blue Sud and I've missed it every day since. I can't wait to tinker around my new car, fixing the odds and ends and I'm sure we are in for a winter that will feel like eternity while I wait for the spring.. :-) -- Hygge.. That will be a definite: maybe! Track days are very intriguing, but the thought of crashing my car isn't. I know that I'm not required to crash, but sometimes **** happens. Last weekend, a driving instructor crashed his Subaru Impreza through a big sign, ending up with a crumbled car and a big bill for the sign. His insurance will most likely not cover, as most insurances has a clause prohibiting racedriving.. Then again, I might crash driving down the road, so I stick with my maybe! for now.. :-) -- Hygge..
