I spent 6 weeks driving from east coast to west coast and back in a '03 Z06.
GF and I had the car packed, and no propblem with space. Used soft side
Samsonite. I was even able to cruise at 120+ through the desert with no
noticable change in handling.

Third old fart will speak up:

If your are into valet parking & prefer to have others haul
your gear, stop reading now.

Custom fitted luggage is a nice touch and I did that with a
911. Problem: The luggage fit nicely in the car. It never
seemed to hold the gear I wanted to carry and everything
had a handle instead of a shoulder strap. Handles are great
for bell hops, lousy if I gotta move it myself.

Typical C5 trip from SDIEGO to Vegas or Phoenix is a pair of
backpacks (one for skivvies, dopp kit etc.//one for camera,
laptop, coveralls and safety shoes). A soft garment bag
and a small tool/test gear case round out the mix. My test
is that it can be carried into the hotel in one trip and will
secure in the rear without flying around on wiggly roads.
Soft stuff tends to do this well 3 or 4 times each year.

Golf clubs in addition to all this stuff is another issue.
