The car has been modified to be a replica of the car used in "Bullitt" the
accent stripe has been removed along with the grille trim and "corral". This has to be the best replica I've seen done. The one Ford uses as it's official car for ads and used in the Sheryl Crowe video has some inconsistencies a stickler like me would gripe about!!! This car has the correct flush rear reflectors not the surface mounted later ones ( ala Cougar). They have blacked out the lower rocker trim like the movie car, which was originaly done to avoid reflections from the cinegraphic lighting and the gas cap has been blacked out like the car in the movie also. There were two cars used in the filming. A 390 GT and a small block car. One of the cars had the GT appearance equipment the other did not ( fog lights GT badging etc). They stripped the cars of the unique trim so they would not differ for continuity and the gas caps were covered in black ( gaffer's tape probably)as one would have "GT" script while the other would have a running Mustang logo. Pity there is not a shot of the steering wheel. The movie car had a 3 spoke '67 Shelby steering wheel wrapped in leather ( most likely) Originally '68's had 2 spoke wheels stock. If you look in the interior you can see words in the rear window. It is a line Steve McQueen says to Robert Vaughan in the movie "you work your side of the street, and I'll work mine" According to the Marti Report shown, This car was actually built after the movie was filmed in early '68 ( on my wife's birthday June 17the oddly enough!) Great pics Paddy, of one of, if not THE favourite car of mine. Thanks! StuK "ThomasS2" > wrote in message ... >I can not find the accent stripe. Ford began selling a Bullitt version of the new Mustang earlier this year but for some reason I don't think it's selling too well. I saw and photographed the one below in February but haven't seen one since. The car looks to be a darker green than the original but I think that may have been partly due to the fact that I shot it in early morning shade. -- Pat Durkin |

I'm sorry, I didn't mean anything against the car. It was awesome. I was
jusk rubbing in the details of the card mentioning the stripes, thinking, that's not what I see in the pic. I get it totally! Sorry I wasn't jumping on you Thomas!
The accent stripe mentioned in the Marti report shown was probably the "C" stripe that went down and around the side relief of the car. It was a sort of homage to the GT40's striping and used as a marketing tool no doubt. Like this one attached.
