Default Recall on C5

I had the locking steering column & fuel calibration recall done on my
Z06 and now my fuel mpg dropped from 29 miles to the gal. to 25 mpg.
This is doing 70/75 miles per hour on the interstate. Im just curious
if anyone else has had this problem. My dealer claims that the recall
adjustments does not effect the fuel mpg.
Just wondering if any one else has had the same problem and what have
you done to increase your mpg rate?
TIA

I have an 03 Z06, and I only got the steering lock recall. What was the
fuel calibration recall about?

Sapguru,
I took my Z06 to another dealer and the Service Advisor said that the
recall was to reprogram the computer so the steering column would not
lock and the fuel not shut off. In my post I should have stated program
not calibrate. He advised me to change the fuel filter to help my gas
mileage. Its about five hundred miles short of the 15k. Thats when its
due for a change of fuel filter. I will change it this weekend and hope
to fix the mpg problem.
Have you had a change to drive your Z06 cross country? I did. Loved
every mile!

Coming back from Yosemite last month in my 99 C-5, I got 29.6 mpg overall &
a best of 32.8mpg (Yosemite, Bakersfield, Barstow, Flagstaff, Phoenix.

It took an extra 90 minutes compared to Yosemite, (Hollywood) LA, Phoenix.
But I didn't have to spend 2 hours driving through LA....well worth it :-)
