Header Clearance
Hey all,
I recently built a ford 302 and put it into a '69 Fairlane. I have a set of Dynomax headers, specific to this car, but there's a slight problem. They come out way too low and have a tendency to scrape the ground when pulling into parking lots and going over large bumps in the road. This is something that has brought me much grief, as you've probably surmised that I've had to deal with bent header-to-head flanges, which result in exhaust leakage right at the head. I've temporarily fixed the leakage by sandwiching a pair of header gaskets in there, but I'd rather not risk busting off studs in my expensive new aluminum heads. So, my options are to either raise the suspension up (which I don't want to do for handling purposes, it already corners like ****), or find a shorter set of headers that will work with my year Fairlane. Does anyone know if there's a "shorty" header, or just plain shorter header that will work with this vehicle? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. -Rob -- Check out my band Menagerie at www.thisismenagerie.com or listen at www.mp3.com/menagerie_rock_music. Remove the "S" at the end of .edu to reply to email. |
