Lots of times the rubber boot will be torn where the bad ball joint is or it will be showing grease leaking out all over it. Other than that you need a pry bar to make them move if they are bad. You could also have a bushing someplace that has slop or has split also. Mike 86/00 CJ7 Laredo, 33x9.5 BFG Muds, 'glass nose to tail in '00 88 Cherokee 235 BFG AT's - Gone to the rust pile... You would do well not to folow Mikes advise, He really is a little more than a troll with a big ego that realy does not know much and does very little work himself on 4x4 short of maybe a bulb or using some duct tape on them. You may have some worn parts but the death wobble is caused with dynamic forces built up in front end due to alignment issues and it makes front end unstable. Certain combos or caster, camber, toe in, lift, tires and speed can produce nasty results. Many like troll Mike here try to treat the symptoms because they do not understand the underlying cause of the problem so they try to use brute force fixes to hold instabilty in check rather than get to the root of the problem. ----------------- TheSnoMan.com |

No miracle at all. The wooble is from aligment issues most of the time. As far as joints, if it tracks and handles okay, I would not be concerned about it. ----------------- TheSnoMan.com |

If the top looked out, then suspect the top ball joint, above the spindle, if the bottom was out, then the bottom joint or even a bushing on things like a track bar depending on the lean angle. The bottom ball joint usually wears out first. Lots of times the rubber boot will be damaged on a bad one. Had you hit anything with that tire recently? The alignment doesn't just don't 'go off' bad enough to set up a Death Wobble and start a leaning/tilted tire for no reason. Having a front tire fall off is no fun.... WOW!!talk about an asshole calling someone a troll.
of all the people on this newsgroup that give free advice, i think the only one better than Mike to listen to is Jim Worman. and listening to the snowman is like playing Russian Roulette with all six cylinders loaded. you know exactly what you are going to get, and it ain't gonna be good. Oh Mike has a Troll buddy!!! Good for him !!! Someone let you out from under bridge too? I would expect your answer for a Troll because you have no grasp of dynamics involved here. TO you a car is something you dirive and if it works great but otherwise when some tries to explain how and why things work you lack of understanding makes you feel insecrue so you attack what you do not understand (since it is beyond your comprehension is must be wrong right?) rather that zipping your lip and maybe learning something. ----------------- TheSnoMan.com |

and you are probably the same asshole that tried to make me look bad a few
years ago on a ford truck site claiming i was giving bad info to the guy that wanted to plow with a lifted truck. i told him he would be fine, and the snowblo dude said i was an idiot that did not know what i was talking about. within 2 days, i was proven rite, and snowblo was proven an asshole troll. Rom the real troll here is you and you will go to any lenght to try to discredit anyone that makes you feel insecure. I do not know what you are taling about above but from what little dribble you put out about it is some one was giving someone a hard time about plowing with a lifted truck they were correct to do so and are not alone in there belief so I commend them. See trolls like you thing you can lift trucks and put big tires on them and that is has no effect at all on the trucks durabilty or even pushing power. You trolls do not even remotoely consider the strain on frame from lift and outset plows and hitches because their is some magic troll "force" the negate all this extra strain and rendures it moot. Man the troll "force" must be awesome! (Trolls like you never took physics and if you did you slept through classes) ----------------- TheSnoMan.com |
