1996 SL2, Transmission slipping but fluid levels fine...tranny replaced 2 years ago.
hi all...
my mothers 1996 sl2 has started slipping. no warning just bam...slippage. it's possible that it's only doing it when cold, i'll investigate more if needed. it slipped last night and she put fluid in but not a whole lot...it was fine the rest of the night and she drove to work this morning without incident. she's a little paranoid that she may have misread the level so she had me check it...it looked fine to me as well. the care was idling and level at the time so that should be ok. when she was on her way home it started slipping again. anyone have any ideas besides the tranny being dead again? it seems unusual that it would go out again so soon, especially considering the fluid levels are always ok. thanks! |

I would start by changing the tranny fluid and FILTER.
If that doesn't clear it up I would take it in. My son's 96 started doing that and it was just a loose nut on some rod that saturn fixed for ($70) and niw runs like achamp |
