I was looking at some local inventory of new 2009 corvettes where I
live (on line) and saw an automatic Z06. Is this something new for
the 09's because I thought all Z06's were manuals?

They are all 6 speeds. However, I did notice that they are now subject to a
$1411.00 gas guzzler tax.

Some page editor screwed up. No autos in Z06's or ZR1's

Humm, last I checked the ZR-1 is $1700 (at 20mpg) and the Z06 is exempt
at (at 24 mpg)

Kelly Blue Book is listing the Z06 as well. I thought the law may have
become more stringent.

Whomever put it in there simply screwed up. Many of the 'for sale'
software defaults to automatics and people don't change them. As it
is, I've seen Miata's listed with Sunroofs and power seats, V6 and
4-cyl RX-7's, etc. The most clueless person is usually in charge of
putting the stuff in there.

Hell, they list my car often as having power seats, cruise control,
heated seats, power miirrors and a host of other things that have
never even been available nevermind optional on the car. Anything
they can do to make it look like the car has more value.

First lumping the Z06 with the ZR1 is an error, and then invoice versus
MSRP on a Federal Tax is an error, so who knows what else is bogus in
that listing?

As to the classification, here is the table and the math,
http://www.answers.com/topic/energy-tax-act

the raw mileage for the Z06 calculates out to roughly 22 and the ZR-1 is
roughly 19 raw combined and they appear to be one level off resulting in
nothing for the Z06 and $1700 for the ZR-1.

The gas guzzler law didn't change, the methodology of the EPA estimated
MPG did.
