Default Sports Car Club of America / Coker Tire Challenge US Road Rally Challenge

Looking for something to do with your car? The Sports Car Club of
America is hosting the US Road Rally Challenge (USRRC) in Chatanooga,
Tennessee in conjunction with the Coker Tire Challenge, a "Great Race"
type of event that is the kind of event that you can see on TV when
the Great Race, featuring the antique cars traveling across America,
is televised.

The Coker Tire Challenge will be run September 19 - 22 and is

in case that big long one doesn't get you there.

The bottom line is that this is made for YOUR car, no matter what you
drive, and can also accommodate anything else with 4 wheels, including
trucks. Bring your F-150, bring your MG Midget, and win or lose,
you'll have a blast.

Used to do that stuff in the seventies.
I loved being the navigator.
In one rally that was for BSA explorer scouts, sponsored by Ford, our team
placed third.

In one rally, I was behind a guy who had a fairly new Mach 1 or Maarlin.
That damn thing was fishtailing all over the place. I find out years later
that wasn't due to the driver, it was the body. That got dubbed as the "g
body shuffle".

Nice to see they're having a rally like this again.

Oh, yeah, the SCCA has been doing rallies right along, all the way
thru from the beginning to the present. Never stopped. Hoping to
get a few people like yourself that used to do it to consider doing it
again. This one will be particularly fun, as it is done in
conjunction with the old cars and has some attractions like a museum
tour and good food. I've not been to the old car rallies myself, so
their "social" stuff, that the SCCA doesn't do to nearly that extent,
will be something new for me too. Maybe we can learn something to
make SCCA rallies more appealing to more people. Right now, the SCCA
rallies, at least on a National level, are inhabited mostly by the
people that have been doing it since the 60's, and either never
stopped, or took a few decades off for kids / family and now have the
time again to do it some more. It really is fun, so I'm always
curious why anyone would stop. Of course, it is expensive, to, so
that's one reason to stop. But its not expensive like racing,
something else the SCCA does and has a lot more people involved than
rally.
