Should point out I've been swearing never to do it again for quite a few
years! Should have got a set of roof bars...

Dead simple - I've just brought home a 10ft tree in the wife's Clio - you
just bend it double before jamming it in - when you get it home, use a broom
handle (tastefully hidden behind some tinsle) as a splint to hold the tree
up straight. An elegant bit of British engineering, don't you think.

The boot is smaller than in the saloon - a first in automotive design.

Frankly, no

Audi have been doing that for years....

It's a bit of a false accusation, though - as the official measurement
is only up to the load cover - whereas, in reality, you can load higher
than that - especially if you have the retractable net between the top
of the rear seats and the boot.

It's also a lot easier to load and positively massive when you fold the
seats fully flat. (The rear seat bases flip up, allowing the seat backs
to fold completely flat)

You guys really go all out for Christmas - we just put a tree up in the
house!

We have gone plastic this year, but I have done that for the last 3 years -
slide passenger seat to mid way position and completely recline the seat.
Cover everything in sheets. Open rear passenger door and insert the wrapped
tree in, base first as far into footwell as possible. Bend the pointy end in
to the rear parcel shelf. Close door. Drive home normally, enjoying the
smell of a new fresh Christmas tree. Reverse procedure. Don't attempt unless
tree has that plastic mesh stuff round!
