Not slow, just a bit abrupt, really - once you get used to it, you learn when it's going to change, or force a change by modulating the pressure applied by the right foot. (or, indeed, lift off when changing 'manually') Most people make the mistake of treating it like an auto, rather than treating it as a manual with robotised gearchange. (Wonders if this is why Mrs H has broken it....) > >Especially the downchanges. > > > >Shame it was my only option, really - when I bought it, I couldn't take > >the hit of a V6 with Q-System, leaving me with no choice if I wanted an > >Alfa. > > Rock and hard place springs to mind! Indeed - I tried to get a deal on a 159 JTDm Auto, but no-one wanted to play ball with me - even on ex-demonstrators. It's a PITA, I bought the car for a specific reason (company car allowance, lots of motorway work, but wanted an auto), however, it has ended up as a 12 mile each way commuter hack, so has probably done an order of magnitude more gearchanges in half the mileage in Mrs H's hands. -- SteveH |
