this is where it gets touchy.... for me anyway... folks slap relays in to
bypass problems instead of fixing them first... i am not agains relays in
the system, but am against using the relay to bypass the aged/worn/bad
parts...fix it, *then* slap a relay on it if you want...(not *you* but you
in general)....then when i buy it i can remove the relay and actually not
have to fix bad wiring...that would be different...LOL

I hate the hard start relay
band-aid-on-your-knee-when-you-have-cut-your-arm-solution as much as you
do. FIX the problem, do not hide it by making the electrical system more
complicated and more vulnerable to malfunctions.

Jan (who melted a Ford relay in it's original environment by simply
cranking for too long)

Relay received and installed - thank you Jim.

Problem rectified, starts on the first spark, every time.

Stops on request too ;-)

While I accept that this sort of fix might be viewed as a bandaid that
masks the symptom rather than addresses the cause, I think this is a
particular problem of an electronic ignition module in a 6V system
which wasn't covered in the original design. And its nothing that
can't be removed without a trace and reverted to bone stock at any
point in the future if desired.
