Where are the new open cockpit racing sims?
Now that Sony has basically destroyed open cockpit racing for the PC by
never releasing any new Formula One racing sims to the PC world (how many more years left in their monopoly?) where are the ones simulating Indy, CART, or even Formula 3 racing? I mean, geez, people are still talking about F1C and that hasn't been available in stores for ages. Granted I still use Grand Prix Legends and F1 2002, I do want something a bit more current. Why hasn't anyone gotten a license to create an Indy or CART racing sim? We haven't had one of those since the early 1980's? Those races aren't just about turning your car left anymore now that they've started including road races. Then again, is the market big enough for a new PC based sim? I just think it's frustrating that we're not really seeing anything new that's not based on a previous sim (i.e. GTR mod over F1C). Perhaps in 2008 when all those current Formula One teams move to their own racing league will we finally see a new sim. |

I don't know about any new open cockpit sims, but I can assure you that in 2008 all the formula 1 teams will still be completing in F-1. As Bernie has said they just have to look at what the end result has been in open wheel racing in the USA since the big split.
