Matt Erdmann was certainly lucky. Not only did being rear-ended with a
rollbar installed and no helmet not throw him into the bar crash-test
dummy style, it also probably saved his life when the car was flipped
over by the crash.

The 10AE on the testimonial page rolled over (on the street with no
helmet), after drifting up a wall rather than into a ditch. This on a
road that I have driven hundreds of times. Again, no smacking of the
head, the driver was ok.

The first modification I will do to any NA or NB that I buy.

If one doesn't feel handy enough to take on such a task, would a Mazda

Or whom else would one look for??

The dealer I'm familiar with would certainly not be capable of
doing such a job.

I know who I'd ask in Minneapolis...

I can help in Austin, either doing the job or a recommendation.

Where are you located, SK? The nearest miata club will be able to point
you in the right direction.

I am here in Solano County, Calif. And thanks for that suggestion,
cause there is a local miata club nearby that I forgot about. I will
email them. Thanlks again.

Np, it really is not that big a job. With some sharp drill bits and a
good set of jack/jack stands it goes very fast. The hardest parts are
trimming the interior panels and altering the boot if you use one.

There is a mechanic in the Austin area who can probably install these in
his sleep by now, and he used to charge $180.00 to install one, though I
don't know if that included trimming the interior panels and it has
probably gone up a bit in price.
There is no way it included any work on the boot at that cost.

Good luck!

What a sissy! Everyone knows roll bars aren't needed for hard headed
Texans... <GD&R>

They should be able to point you to a local race car shop which does such tasks
routinely.
