Default Scaling Interstate 80 near Gold Run, Calif.

Hi Viatologists,

The elevation rise between Sacramento and Donner Summit can be
described as a steady, yet dramatic climb. Starting from sea level
and rising to 2,160 metres in just a two hour drive, a brisk panorama
of the Sierra Nevadas and nearby pine trees gets offered. Before one
reaches snow-level and steep slopes, best seen from Emigrant Gap (in
my humble opinion), there's a "dryland" section called Gold Run that
gives eastbound travelers a three-lane passage.

The Worldwide Highway Library (WHL) proudly brings you a peek of
Interstate 80 near Gold Run:
http://worldwide-hwys.calrog.com/tmp/1603/

From California to México to the UK and Monaco, the WHL has cemented
itself at the forefront of international roadside coverage. Where the
competition covers regions, we cover countries! Our goal is for you
to travel and travel well.

Cheers,

Carl Rogers

Unless you are heading west.

A peak??? That's a serious overstatement - a hillside and a reflector
marker that could have been taken many places. There are lots of web cams
on the net that give FAR better peeks that THAT!!!

And who is that competition? Since everyone in this newsgroup says they do
it for enjoyment and hobby, not for competition, perhaps you better define
who you believe that competition is.

Many of those web cams I mention are live streaming web cams from Caltrans.
That's better than one lousy picture that could have been taken anywhere.

What exactly does this mean? Are people awe-struck as they make the
climb?
Either way, it's pretty redundant to say "steady, yet dramatic.
That's like me saying my business sells "somewhat cold, yet below
freezing bags of ice." O_o

Do you suppose that is what between his ears?

That could explain his receding hairline: grass doesn't grow on
concrete.

And the tracks are elevated in some places. Near my house, for
example, they're at least 10 meters above street level. Not that 30
or 40 meters makes a big difference when you're going to 2,000 meters.
