remote power booster?
In my quest for better brakes, should I consider a remote power booster
like a PBR VH40? <http://falconccwa.stormloader.com/vh40hint.htm> My '73 Super has Ghia front discs with Squareback rear drums (23.8mm wheel cylinders instead of the 22mm ones). I've installed a 2psi residual in the front and a 10psi residual in the back and it's brought the pedal up nicely. I have a metering (hold-off) valve for the fronts to prevent nose dive and a proportioning valve for the rear, but haven't installed them both yet. I might get to the metering valve this weekend. I know all this valving will make the pedal a bit harder once I'm done. Has anyone ever added in power assist on the front circuit? I'll have to run a vacuum line to the front. I wonder if I can get 18" of vacuum from a stock 1600 engine? Thanks. -- -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.10 (GNU/Linux) Comment: If privacy is outlawed, only outlaws will have privacy. -- Philip Zimmermann iEYEARECAAYFAk4KoloACgkQlZadkQh/RmG0XACgwsHW3GMdEHk2z4nF1taMfPQs 1i8AoPA3EHWAvMnd0UIyOdNpgMHf5pEg =1llI -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |

They're one-way valves that prevent negative pressure and can help raise the pedal: http://ecihotrodbrakes.com/brake_facts.html Thinking of putting the booster in the bonnet somewhere as it'll just be for the front circuit. I am getting a bit ahead of myself as I haven't finished putting in all the valving, but I'm just wondering if anyone has ever put in a booster in a beetle -- -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.10 (GNU/Linux) Comment: If privacy is outlawed, only outlaws will have privacy. -- Philip Zimmermann iEYEARECAAYFAk4LVR0ACgkQlZadkQh/RmFUuQCbBwdqSQBoDlxkrpwugdvks6cN myIAoJHTR+26eKmq4KfWZy5GKSfr9d3Z =attM -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |
