And so it's "Look, I took Froggy to the dealer!" for another couple
decades?

If you mean my panties aren't in a bunch over on-topic spam, then
yeah.

That's good. Maybe.

That's good, too. In fact, we broadened our focus to include
small-block pushrod engines and new-tech hardware. And we are still
unmoderated.

And yet WF torques up his panties some more this morning and
regurgitates the same tired old "Usenet Policy". You guys need to get
sorted out.

This is very old news, which is why you need to step into the here
and now. I used make runs through the whole alt.auto hierarchy to keep
an eye on the action. It was evident three years ago that these groups
would become a wasteland. Did you not see that all those guys from
other ng's stopped sticking their noses in here?

The exodus to the Web was not slow at all. It was, with broadband
and improved interfacing, inevitable. Their success has nothing to do
with "mirroring" newsgroups. The overwhelming majority of the members
there don't even know what Usenet is.

Matter of fact, dwight, I think the single biggest reason for the
proliferation of web forums is the existence of some degree of
moderation which has eliminated the flamewar. Yep, that glorious
debacle which in old days used to define Usenet itself. Turns out, most
people would rather talk shop than argue.

I went on cable and into the Web about 15 months ago. I found guys
that had been in Usenet that were quite happy over there. Of course, I
had to be "normal", but I got used to it. I've learned more last year
than in all the prior time in newsgroups. Go figure.

Ah, open your eyes. If the decline in posting bothers you, think of
what you and the others can do to increase it. Start by asking yourself
why you posted the above sentence. If that's how you see things, then
you've already lost.

I think he was referring to the "other" dead group.

I guess "panties in a bunch" has a MUCH looser translation in your world. It
used to have something to do with popping blood vessels, but you throw it
around as synonymous with "annoyed." That's the second time you've referred
to my panties, which, I assure you, remain unwadded.

Oh, but now you'll tell me that my panties are in a wad over something that
YOU posted, too. After all, I replied...

Throw in the occasional discussion of digital photography, and I might
subscribe.

Your logic - or train of thought - is severely flawed. First you drag out a
reference to a thread about windshield wipers, knowing that I had NO part in
that one, as some sort of slam against me, and now you drag the Fox into it.
This is me, Jet. dwight. Try to stay focused when you respond to something I
write. I know it's getting harder with each passing year, but, in the end,
you'll find that things make more sense.

When you see a post and before you hit REPLY, you can usually see who the
author of the post was. Mine probably say something like "dwight." If it
says "Windsor Fox," that's the other guy.

ohmigod... You "went on cable and into the Web" a WHOLE 15 MONTHS AGO?!? Are
you freakin' kidding me? And "I" have to catch up???

Dude... Seriously.

You're one of those guys who believes what he believes, and everyone who
doesn't agree is wrong. That's fine. Believe me, I think this world would be
flat out unlivable if everyone agreed all the time, if everyone shared the
same thinking.

It's all about choices, Jet. I've been aware of the internets for a little
longer than 15 months, and I make great use of its resources. I fully
understand that usenet is but one small piece of the great pie. (In your
limited braintrust, you only see my posts here, so you probably figure that
this is my only internet presence. It's understandable.)

But I'm able to do more than one thing at a time. It's called
"multitasking." You might want to Google that for more information.

Hint: type http://www.google.com into your "browser" - you know, the window
that shows you the Nets. You'll see the big word "GOOGLE" come up, with a
white rectangle below that. Your cursor (the blinky thing) will already be
in that box. Just type the word "multitasking" and hit the button marked
"Enter." You'll be amazed...

I'll do that, if you'll think about why YOU are posting here and now.
Personally, I'm happy you're here - we've tripled the daily posts in ramfm
over the past couple of days. THAT's content, baby.

uh... wait... lost what?

Oh and I'm so impressed. My first Usenet posts pre-date just about
everyone's here, so long as we're doing that tired comparison.

You know what? I will, just as soon as I find an AP story about
something vaguely on-topic. I will post the URL and be a bad mama jama
in RAMFM!!!
