To All:

There are quite a few of you subscribed to this Group. Many of you
are actually building engines! And running them. And filling the
neighborhood with expensive white smoke. Then writing to me.
Eventually, we get the problems ironed out, an interesting process for
the TWO of us.

I've tried to get these guys to post their efforts here but most
appear to prefer The Samba or some other VW-Specific outlet. Which is
unfortunate because it limits the dissemination of your efforts. Some
have asked me to post their efforts but people are sure to get tired
of seeing my name.

The funniest part of all this is that often times the guy writes
anonymously. Some even forget to include a valid e-mail address :-)

Come on guys! Take a stab at it.

Honestly Bob, I'm not any smarter when I post here than when I post on
the samba. ;-)

Nope, not even after a night at the holiday inn express.

Hi,

It is too bad that there isn't more traffic on here. I still prefer
newsgroups to modern web forums for some reason. Unfortunately my VW
projects aren't currently active, but I expect I will be asking for
advice when I get back around to them.

For the record I have one VW and two engines. Car is a 1974 standard
Beetle, "custom body work and interior" by a previous owner. Has 8-
spoke EMPI wheels, powder coated roof rack, dealer equipment AC kit
(complete save compressor). Engine is a Mexican 1600cc dual port with
a Pict34 carburator and a bus type-4 SVDA distributor. I think it
needs a valve job but runs pretty well.

Spare engine project is a type 4 from a 1976 bus. Has good used heads
and new 96mm P/Cs, got a DTM shroud for it, just need to put it
together and build a fuel injection system...

Peace,
Harry

Hi Guys,

The trouble with The Samba is that it isn't one List, it's literally
dozens. Guy sends me a message saying he's been trying to get help
for six month for the power steering on his '65 bus with a stroker
big-bored T4 engine.

The best I could do was to wish him luck.

I'm not sure that he would get any better answer to that question
posted here.

I do understand that samba is many lists and would represent a lot of
time to read it all if one was so inclined.

But I also remember when ramva was seeing 100+ new posts every day. 9
years ago I was spending hours each night just reading this group.
