Default 95 Neon Clutch, cable snap?

Well.... On my way home with the girlfriend's car, go to press the clutch in
as I come to the red light.
I believe that I felt the cable snap.
Does this sound possible?
The car is a 1995 Neon 2 door, with as you can tell, 5 speed manual.
Anyone experience this before?
I am going to go out in the freezing rain to look at it now as I just got
home with it.

Pulled the Power distribution box and the battery away from the
transmission, and pulled the rubber sleeve off the cable . Pulled the cable
out and it is broken.
It looks like a fairly thick cable to have frayed and broken.
Guess now I have to wait till tomorrow for a dealer to open to get the
cable.

I have seen the master cylinder go on a few GM cars, but then again, that is
GM.
I do believe that the second gen Neons are hydraulic, as when I test drive a
2001 RT Neon, the clutch was so light, I thought that the peddle was not
connected.
