Nascar SimRacing - Pretty good
Everyone has been dissing this sim just because its a little bit
different than they are used to. Well after running a couple of races, I can say that the way the cars drive seems a lot more like what I actually see on tv. You can actually control your car through the turns. If your car is pushing, crank the wheel over and make it through the turn while sacrificing speed and tires. If you really need to pass someone, you can floor it and get a little loose in the back... but only if you have fresh tires. Sure there are a bunch of goofy things like the garbage replay system, and the cheesy race intro, but all in all its a pretty good racer. I've seen a lot of people with a bunch of nonsense complaints. "Theres no cockpit view so I'm not gonna try it" Um, yes there is. "The graphics suck I cant even read the guages" Well you have done something wrong because they are perfectly legible on my system. "The Indy setup is undrivable" Did you actually load the race setup? The default is not set at all, but the race one is a little bit better. Its still a bit loose, but guess what, make a change in the garage, and the difference on the track is HUGE. Not like N2004 where you could barely feel a difference. The AI is pretty fun to drive with too. I was on the last lap and Tony Steward gave me a friendly little bump then slipped past underneath me |
