Battery light won't go out/Overheating

On my 1988 Honda Accord DX the battery light won't go out and I replaced
the battery and alternator. It is also overheating but not regisitering on
the temperature gauge. What else do I need to check before even driving it
again?

Fill the rad to the top, and the overflow reservoir to the line MAX. You
may have to bleed some air from the engine block. Don't put any tap
water in your Honda . . It's called Hondacide.

Measure the voltage across your battery with the car running. It should be
14.5 volt if the alternator is doing a proper job.
Make sure all connections (grounds to engine, body) are all tight.

Thanks for the info, but I may have killed the old
girl. I did use tap water, along w/coolant, however,
this car has well over 185,000 miles on it. Is it
worth fixing? And what about the battery light that
won't go out even after replacing it and the
alternator?

I would suggest to check the belts, water pump and thermostat.
