Checkpoints for drunk drivers have been ruled illegal every time they've been challenged. Yet local governments continue to try to push for them. Note your comment about them being worse than terrorists is possible because there are those who want to make an exception to the probable cause principle for terrorists. When people support exceptions to principles, they'll find that sooner or later someone wants to make an exception to a principle that hurts them. |
