Because during the braking process, the pads wear out, and as they wear,
they produce brake dust.

....which is very very HOT.

Strip the wheel down, sand it nice and smooth, apply 3 coats of Wurth wheel paint,
2 coates of Wurth cleal, wait a while then wax them. Wash them once a weel. Wax
again as required.

They're still get messed up, but not as quickly and they're stay cleaner longer.

Some people use brake sheilds to reduce this problem. Some peple swear by them,
some swear at them for causing warped rotors.
