Honda Transmissions?
Anyone else have tranny problems with their Civic? My wife's 2002 EX
Coupe had been shifting hard and slipping going uphill. It has 28000 miles on it. Brought it into Honda and they noticed it on the road test. When they drained the fluid it was full of debris, so they are putting in another transmission. Just curious how often this happens with Hondas because my 2001 Accord also has transmission problems ever since it was new, but they never can duplicate it on test drives! |

Are they both V6's???????
If so tell the dealership to fix the trannys and EXTEND the warranty tp 100,000 miles. They know the V6 trannys are JUNK!!!!!!!!!!! Last I heard a 3-4 month backlog of people waiting to get factory rebuilt replacement units. They also change out the ECU which cuts about 15-20 hp from the V6 so they new tranny might live longer. The Civic is a 4-banger. Didn't know they made a V6 Civic. As for my
Accord, Honda extended the warranty on the tranny to 100K, but won't replace it until it fails. Right now I have nearly 70K, but it doesn't act up as often as it did when it was new. Now when we road-test it with a mechanic it will not duplicate.
