Well, I don't whiz to work at 90 mph, but I can do 55 mph most of the
time. I choose to live in a place where population density averages
less than 100 persons/square mile, and where "gridlock" means missing
the green light by 10 seconds. And I am beyond the exurban fringe by a
big enough margin that it will likely not consume me in my lifetime. I
have talked to untold #'s of people who moved 5 miles from the suburbs
to "get away from it all", and then complain when it caught up to them.
Not much foresight there, methinks.

IOW, I highly doubt MY future will resemble China's. I would rather
live in a city well served by transit than a dense suburban area with
poor transportation alternatives, though.
