Anyone who wants their exhaust be heard for a 5 mile radius... Anyone who considers just straight pipes out the back on a STREET car... is as far as I'm concerned, a total ****ing moron. I'm with Kate on this.
And while we are talking about people being insensitive (or just plain stupid), let's also talk about fog lights. Just because you *have* foglights, doesn't mean you need to use them when the weather is clear and your normal driving lights will do fine. You can do other things to "look cool" that do not annoy and distract those around you. And finally, back to sound, WTF is it with bass thumping so hard I can hear it a block away in MY car with my windows up and my own stereo on? Admit it that when you turn your stereo up that loud, it doesn't sound good to you until you have lost half your hearing. The only people you will impress with loudness (audible & visual) are other dorks like yourself who have no taste, sensitivity, or intelligence. "Look at me, I'm a big dork who needs attention," is what most people think of your cheesy/annoying display. How many people smart enough to afford $40,000+ cars do you see driving around with foglights on in clear weather, loud mufflers, and thumping bass? And how many do you see doing all of the above in cheaper cars? Getting a clue yet? -- Scotter 96 GT vert 3.73 gears, filtercharger "SVTKate" > wrote in message ink.net... > Yea.. sell it. > > You are too stupid to know that you will annoy the hell out of everyone > within that five mile radius and leave yourself as a target for every > patrolman that wants to write a dumbass like yourself a ticket. > > Sound harsh? > Try living next door to the moron that has the pipes that can be heard > "for > a five mile radius" > > A car can sound great without being loud enough to be obnoxious. Ok, but you can stop being a ****in jerkoff about it & go about it a
different way other than calling somebody (blatantly) "You're a ****ing idiot." Hell, you know what I have to say to that? You're a ****ing asshole. I agree, too loud is just annoying.. but I've heard some exhausts that were loud that I *liked* hearing. You will never please everybody.. and some ppl are so ****in sensitive that you will always **** them off... so I guess you gotta do what makes YOU happy.. and in this case, (R) wants a bit louder of an exhaust. All he has are a couple Flowmaster mufflers. That is FAR from too loud. Even with an offroad H-pipe.. it's FAR from too loud (because I can't hear my neighbors car until he gets RIGHT in his parking spot and it's a 93 SVT Cobra... and my other neighbor happens to drive a 98 Mustang GT w/ 2 Flowmaster mufflers and an O/R H-pipe and again.. I can't hear it until he gets right next to my place). What I think is, you just felt like bitching because Kate did. I think Kate was a little too harsh, but she put some ****in humor in it. You flat out ran your mouth & called the guy a "****in idiot". Ppl like that **** me off. Welcome to my kill file. -Mike -- Melt away the Cellulite with Cellulean! http://www.MeltAwayCellulite.com/ "Stephan Rose" > wrote in message ... > On Tue, 12 Apr 2005 05:28:59 GMT, > wrote: > > >WTF crawled up your ass and died? However I can honestly say that I do NOT believe that Stephen went off just because I did. He is perfectly capable of blowing his own fuse over what was initially an asinine post from what appeared to be a moron. Stephen has proven that before in threads that I had no part in. Sometimes I am harsh -BUT- what I did get with my response was a guy (our fearless poster "R") that came back with a more reasonable explanation of what he was wanting to do. If he had been a common troll... the results would have been predictable. Personally, I like a car to have some exhaust. Now that I live out in the boonies folks with excessive pipes are not a problem but when I lived in the city it was a pain in the ass. So, "R" do some research. You can go to different web sites and find sound clips for different exhaust combinations that may help you make a decision. LISTEN to different cars to see what you like and then as the people what they have on their car. Keep in mind a few simple truths. Excessively loud cars draw unwanted attention. Be it law enforcement, vandals or the guy that is road raging or the neighbor that alienate. If you destroy your emissions system for the sake of more sound, you WILL pay the price eventually. If you go crazy, your hearing WILL suffer. You may not notice it now, but wait till you are in your mid 40s and you have trouble hearing. And it WILL get worse. So, think about it. DO the research and make a wise decision. Mike and Stephen... c'mon guys... calm down. Kate |

Here's what contibutes to my car's exhaust note that Kate's so fond of: 98 GT w/ 2000 heads FRPP coated shorty headers Bassani Stainless Steel Offroad X Bassani Stainless Steel Cat-Back w/baffles Generally speaking, most people prefer the sound of straight-through type mufflers with X-pipes (particularly Offroad X-pipes) while chambered mufflers tend to be more pleasing with H-pipes. Often when you mix these this formula incorrectly the result is a wicked drone around 2000 rpm's that'll rattle your teeth outta your head. Unfortunately the exact model of Bassani X that I have isn't available as a 1-piece part anymore, they did a slight re-design to make shipping more affordable. Still great stuff though and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. If I had to do it all over again I'd take a hard look at the Magnaflow stuff... same stainless steel construction at a little more reasonable price. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Okie Tom - TS #62 1998 GT Coupe 5-spd. 2001 Ranger XLT |
