"2008" Plymouth Fury wagon
STUK added these comments in the current discussion du jour ...
> http://www.cwwcardesign.com/cars/ply...ury_wagon.html > What a joke! Somebody turned a 2009 Challenger into a Magnum. BTW and FWIW, DMVs certainly including my home state of Michigan not only have no clue as to body styles or designations, they haven't updated them for decades. So, for example, a PT Cruiser is registered as - are you ready for this? - a "station wagon". Yeah, I guess I CAN see it - it has 4-doors, fold-down rear seats, and a "tailgate". But, wrt to body styles real, imagined, popular opinion, or manufacturer official. I'd really have to dig around to find even ONE Chrysler product in the last I don't know how many years that even was adversised as any old-fashioned body style. I do know this: I don't believe any car maker calls their cars "station wagons" because of the negative suburbia stereotype. Interestingly, the modern day equivalent has become the minivan, no matter the brand. Seems that the new phrase, though, is "soccer Mom car". Yeah, I can see that also. I certainly enjoyed minvans when my daughter was young. Too bad, really, that both Ford and GM have decided to eventually cancel their current minivans, or at least so I have heard and read. Seems they think the day of the mini has passed and they want to spend precious investment income on the new hot segment, the "new" station wagons called CUVs or Crossover Utility Vehicle. A rose by any name would smell as sweet. Chrysler, on the other hand, decided to try to take back its long lead in mininvans from such excellent vehicles as the Honda Odyssey. I said "too bad, really" above because I don't like two of the largest car companies in the world simply ceding an entire market segment to the Japanese, in effect, surrendering without a fight. -- HP, aka Jerry |
