Ok I personally have driven my vette 165MPH and have truly felt that speed,
and have driven a passat up to around 90 (LA freeways everybody does 90 when clear or 25 when full of traffic) and did not feel near the control in the passat at that low of a speed as I did in my 98 vette at that great of speed. Now your statement "It's reasonably safe to drive 150-250 MPH in Germany" is just plain stupid unless you have a full roll cage and a full harness seat belt and helmet you are far from safe. And the Autobahn is not very safe for driving fast either as there are a lot of slow moving vehicles like tractor trailers on it as well, I'm sorry I would not want to be coming up on a truck going 60MPH and me doing 150MPH that would suck if he had to swerve. http://www.car-accidents.com/pages/2...ry/6-1-05.html Autobahn speed limit facts. Speed limits Despite the widespread belief of complete freedom from speed limits (and a lobbying effort that has the same influence and deep pockets as the American gun lobby), some speed regulations can be found on the Autobahns. Many sections do indeed have posted limits ranging from 80 to 120 km/h (50-75 mph), particularly those with dangerous curves, in urban areas, near major interchanges, or with unusually constant heavy traffic. In construction zones, the limit may be as low as 60 km/h (37 mph). Also, some sections now feature nighttime and wet-weather speed restrictions, and trucks are always regulated . Still, about half the Autobahn system has no speed limit, but there is always an advisory limit of 130 km/h (81 mph). This recommendation is generally seen for what it is-- an attempt by the government to cover itself without having to upset millions of Porsche and BMW owners (AKA voters.) However, if you exceed the advisory limit and are involved in an accident, you could be responsible for some of the damage costs even if you are not at fault. http://gettingaroundgermany.home.att...tm#speedlimits I guess I would just like to end this saying 2 things 1st quit dissing the Vette if you don't like the car leave the group and move onto another one, we like them. 2nd Unless you have experience in driving the actual cars (not on a ****ing game) then quit trying to argue with everybody, Hell I can read a book on knee surgery and quote it to everybody and even do it on the computer http://www.edheads.org click virtual knee surgery its kinda cool, BUT it does not mean I know diddly **** about it. So go play somewhere else you have wore out your welcome here as far as I am concerned. -- ZÿRiX (¯`'..(<>..<>)..'´¯) |

I was going to start a thread subject "Don't feed the troll," but your post does it just as well. Really though, wouldn't you love to see the Passat behind you? One downshift, three curves and you'd look up and think there was a speck of fly **** on you rear view mirror. Here's a quote from Churchill that sums up this moron:: "A fanatic is someone who won't change his mind and won't change the subject." If nothing else, his lack of understanding of capitalization conventions, inability to figure out what a paragraph is, and complete lack of personal driving experience ought to relegate him to the killfile. Please, everyone, be done with his sorry ass. He'll disappear like the little troll he is. AJM '93 Ruby coupe, 6 sp (both tops) |
