Placement of a temp sensor
I use a digital in/out thermometer in my car.
Where would you place the "probe" of a thermometer on a Honda Prelude 92? I've tried all over the place at the back of the car as far possible away from all heat sources but the temp readings keep increasing as I drive. Would placing it in front of the car help? If so, where would you recommend? What about the newer cars that already have this installed? where do they place the outside-temp sensor? |

Hi, My 04 Accord has the factory temp sensor just below the front bumper in
front of the radiator . Any other car I know of has the sensor about the same place. Scott |

No wonder it didn't work properly then |

I think that most manufacturers place them inside one of the mirrors. I placed mine in front of the radiator. It is not close to the fins and is also "shielded" from the radiator's heat by a metal strap (had to cut the wire to get it through the firewall). It is accurate while the car is moving but when stopped with a hot engine, after a while the readings are wrong. -- Bye, Leon |
