FFB...almost done
New development.
First, Logitech profiler is a no-no. Regarding FFB, I got it, finaly. The multiplier of Overall and Spring/Damper must be the same for different Overall positions. On my system it is 46% (100% Overall x 46% Damper/Spring = 46%). This means that those three can be 100/46/46, or 46/100/100, or 92/50/50, or 50/92/92, for whichever strength of Overall you wish. The most extreme on my system is 31/148/148, or 148/31/31. How to find it? I found it using F1 car, which has nice, clean FFB forces. At that time Centering Spring (unchecked) was at 100%. I simply ran equall Overall and Damper/Spring, all the way from 0% up. When I reached 68% (the settings was 68/68/68/100) I had balanced FFB. Above that it was too dampy, below that it was too springy. Now I am using 100/42/42. Centering Spring is very interesting. Now, that I've set up other things correctly, it is easy to find the correct Centering Spring. I still didn't have time to find the right one, but it is somewhere around 70%. I will use very "shaky" (this time) FFB of Cadillac car. It is good because it swings all around, and Centering Spring keeps it, well, centered. This Twin Montegy West track is very good for this. |

SRF car is good for that. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok, there is some progress. First, it isn't 46%, it is 47.5%. I determined this by putting -/50/50/50, and going Overall down from 100%. It was good at 95%. Second, Overall of 95% works with any position of Spring/Centering Spring, if those two (S/CS) are the same. IOW, Overall of 95% is balanced. Damper doesn't affect that balance. You can put Damper wherever you want, if S/CS are the same, and O is 95%. Third, Damper doesn't make "mud". If you put 95/0/-/0 (on my system), and put damper wherever you want, you see that it works just like a damper. If you rise S/CS, then it softens into mud. From previous tests I presume that if you want to have more Overall, then you would have to rise Centering Spring above Spring. |

FFB...almost done
Ok, it looks like, that with the newest patch they fixed everything.
This is how it goes. The default should be 100/50/50/50. I experimented with that, with cockpitLookDeadZone being 0.000000, and I didn't find any way to make it better. Only thing to do here is to Adjust Overall. So, I am now using 127/50/50/50. Second thing. I was very surprised to find out that this, not only that it is working with "cockpitLookDeadZone" set at the default iRacing value (0.050000), but it also LIKES it. With it, it gives "the right" feeling. So, it looks like this is it, only you have to put everything on 50, and adjust Overall to your liking, : ). |
